I read a great anti-crime strategy in The State yesterday. The Richland County Sheriff's department bought a bunch of cans Skunk Shot. The cans were about $15 each. They sent deputies out to abandoned houses and buildings and had them spread this skunk-smelling gel around in the houses. No more vagrants, drug dealers, prostitution, etc. in those buildings! The smell lasts about 3 weeks. Here's the full story.
I'd heard of places playing classical music on loudspeakers to keep kids from loitering, but this skunk scent is really imaginative! I like that!
