Today my Mom comes. I'm to collect her from the airport late this afternoon.  She's going to stay until September 4.

I'm very excited!  My Mom was my main pal when I lived in Minnesota.  I had a lot of friends, but Mom (and occasionally my sister) was my shopping buddy, movie buddy, lunch buddy, cooking buddy.  I've missed that quite a bit.

We'll probably do much the same while she's here. Or, I could be running crazy with 2 parttime jobs while she sits here bored. I hope that doesn't happen.  But Mom can be pretty hard to bore, so maybe it'll work fine.

Today I go back for the second half of my behind-the-wheel with the school bus.  A second student is supposed to come today.  He apparently already has his Commercial Driver's License and needs to get the School Bus Endorsement, or whatever it's called.  I told the instructor I was sad that he's coming because I feel I could really use the most time driving possible. But she said she'll probably just have him go 2 hours and give me the rest of the time since he has his CDL already. I mainly need to perfect my left turns anyway, so I think that will be okay. If I'm lucky he just won't show up.

The bad part is that I have to then start learning what they called the "Pre-Trip Inspection".  This will inspection will only be performed once...during the test for the license. But it's very long and involved and requires memorizing bus parts and what to say about them.  Essentially I'll go all over the inside and the outside of the bus and underneath, identifying parts and reciting what I'm inspecting for...that parts are clean, not broken, adjusted properly and there are no leaks, etc.  I have no idea how long it will take me to learn all that. It varies by individual. And we are coming down to the wire with the time left to train. School starts a week from Monday. So I only have next week to learn it all and then take the test.

That's it for today. I have half an hour to get out the door. Remember: Don't buy Benchcraft Furniture!
