If my bus isn't the one at the bottom of heap, there is someone out there I need to feel quite sorry for.  The first walkaround revealed a broken mirror anchor and a stopsign flashing light connection that was broken.  I'm thinking someone just said "Hmmm...they need another bus. Let's see which one cranks up."  It doesn't seem like they even stopped to be sure there were no problems with it. It's got over 200k miles on it.

But, I think I'm going to end up liking it. You know that old car you had, or your family had when you were little? Every family has had one.  Maybe it lost 20 miles per hour when going up hills. Maybe it had a passenger door that rusted shut whenever it rained too much?  Or maybe it was just so broken down by the time you got a new one that you just dragged it to the salvage yard and left it. Or better yet...traded it for a tent!

Those old beloved cars have a special place in everybody's heart. I think my bus will gain that in mine. Yesterday as I drove a practice run around my route, I found myself rocking back and forth in the seat, trying to encourage it up that little hill in the road outside my subdivision.  "C,mon baby...you can do it!" And each time I accidentally revved the engine in neutral because the gear indicator is broken, I just had to chuckle a little.

But I was quite impressed by the way it made that U-ey in my subdivision as I turned around the center median on our boulevard. And in the fire station parking lot as I turned around to get in front of the day care.  That baby takes turns like a charm. I bet I could coax a decent donut out of it on an icey day...with no kids aboard, of course!

Only 4 more days left to remind you not to buy Benchcraft furniture!
