Merry Christmas everyone!
What a blast I had riding in the fire truck with Santa yesterday! Naturally I had to tell everyone about riding in the fire truck! The Observer columnist, who is a friend of mine, was there too and they pretty much treated us like royalty. All the families we visited were happy to talk to the paper and have their photos taken. I did not actually photograph everyone. Just a couple. The families were overwhelmed by the generosity of the firefighters and our community. I knew we were in for a special day when we arrived at the first house and the mother burst into tears. I've written the story already and sent in the photos...one of the easiest stories I've written.
Tomorrow I need to find 10 people of various ages and races to ask their New Year's resolutions. I've asked a couple of people already and they've all said they don't make resolutions. So I think I'll ask people if they have a resolution or wish for the new year.
I used to say I didn't make resolutions either, but last year I did. When one thinks of resolutions, they tend to think of big things, like losing weight or stopping smoking or reading the Bible through in a year. But really, just any little thing like "I will concentrate on holding in my abs for every song in Jazzercise," can make a big difference. That's what I did and it made a difference. You think this is silly, but it did make a difference and it was a habit I had to cultivate. I doubt I would tell the paper that, though.
I don't have a resolution for 2007.
But...Christmas is not over. I need to get the ham going here pretty soon. And make ambrosia. I didn't know it needed to chill for 3 hours and couldn't get it done for last night. I'll make it for Tony for "feed the preacher night" soon. Today we'll have that and a recipe I found for spicy roasted sweet potatoes. And maybe a salad.
Merry Christmas!
