Loss of Tech Service Jobs Felt Locally
Yesterday here in Spokane the loss of 350 technical service jobs were lost from Software Spectrum. Software Spectrum is a call center and has as its primary client Microsoft. None of the stories that I am aware of mentioned that the jobs will most likely be moved to the Asian continent, but that is my speculation.
I find it ironic in a way with Bill Gates announcing that he will be giving away 95% of his wealth to help with global health issues. I wonder how he justifies this in light of the large number of families here in his own state that will now be out of work and basically out of luck (there are no equivalent jobs here).
Perhaps in a company as large as Microsoft has become, Gates is not even aware of the change in providers for tech support. I am hoping that some reporter who can find out where these jobs are going to can pick up the story and find out.
