POST ELECTION BLUES
I feel sick , I feel had , I feel shocked .
Obviously there is a statement being made here and , after going beyond my initial anguish , it seems to be this ~ This election confirms the ultimate dumbing down of America and , as usual, California is far ahead of the rest of the country.
Larry Flynt and Gary Coleman together got more votes than Peter Ueberroth and half the votes that Arianna got.
The democratic party has reached rock bottom ~ for Feinstein, Gore, Clinton, Brown and all the other paid horses and king's men could not put Humpty ( Gray Davis ) Dumpty together again.
Within ten days the Bush/Cheney connection will emerge to add to the Democrats grief.
However,in our collective pain and shock , we should consider the words of Vaclav Havel ~ There are times when we must sink to the bottom of our misery to understand truth , just as we must descend to the bottom of a well to see the stars in broad daylight.
In regards to Arnold ~ I see nothing but a cold and calculating worship of power in his eyes . Maureen Dowd , of the New York Times shared yesterday a telling insight on Arnold from Leon Wieseltier ~ which confirms my perception.
" It was no surprise on Friday that Arnold was backing off his promise to release those " Springtime for Hitler " outtakes from George Butler's 1977 documentary " Pumping Iron . " No Dummy , he knew years ago his " Nazi stuff " could be trouble. He bought up the incriminating evidence, 100 hours of histronic interviews for a million ~ and worked with the Simon Weisenthal Center ~ giving it a million in guilt gelt. "
" I asked my friend , Leon Wieseltier, who knows alot about judaism and politics and woman, about Arnold.
" Schwarzenegger is obviously not anti-Semitic or an admirer of genocide , " he said. " Hitler does not appear to have been his moral ideal, but his business model. His old fondness for the fuhrer is just another expression of the animating principle of his life and movies : the worship and steady acquisition of power. Sacramento is simply the biggest Hummer he can buy ."

The greatest test of character is not how a person handles adversity but how do they handle power ?
It remains to be seen how Arnold will handle it but I'm not looking forward to the experience.
