Allen L Roland's Radio Weblog
My ongoing theme is always the truth , as I see it , and the exposure of lies, deception and manipulation wherever they exist. I remain firmly convinced that the world can no longer resist its innate urge to unite and co-operate with one another and we are very close to the point where war can no longer be an option if this transformation is to occur. CONVENTION RPT / DAY TWO

I believe the natural state of man is war : Dick Cheney

ARNOLDS MOMENT

There are some rising stars in the moderate Republican
stable and Arnold established himself last night as one of them.

Without Arnold ~ last night would have been a sleeper but it was interesting watching the hard right wingers stoically react to Arnolds barnburner speech.

That included Trent Lott, Rudy Giuliani and especially Dick Cheney.

Cheneys heavy presence can be felt thoughout the auditorium ~ it's almost like he's grinning and bearing it but in his heart he would rather be in his bunker plotting strategy in his never ending war against evil .

It's either that or he has a bad case of
hemorrhoids.

It was a feel good night with Arnold and laura but sooner or later the Republicans are going to have to deal with these grim economic facts which are much more indicative of Bush's performance in office.

Since  Bush  took office, 1.2 million people in America have lost their jobs, bringing the total to 8.2 million.

The number of Americans living below the poverty line has increased by 4.3 million to 35.9 million - 12.9 million of them children.

The number of Americans with no health insurance has increased by 5.8 million - with 1.4 million losing their insurance in 2003. The total now stands at 45 million.

Forty percent of the 3.5 million people who were homeless at some point last year were families with children, as were 40 percent of those seeking emergency food assistance.

Median household income has fallen more than $1,500 in inflation-adjusted terms in the last three years, and the wages of most workers are now falling behind inflation.

Average tuition for college has risen by 34 percent, while 37 percent of fourth graders read at a level considered "below basic."

One third of the president's $1.7 trillion in tax cuts benefits only the top 1 percent of wealthiest Americans.

In other words, Emperor Bush has no clothes but he can't hide his nakedness too much longer with just his shield of denial and a bloody sword of rationalized revenge.

The moment of truth is coming for both Bush and kerry .

For Bush it's facing the reality of an economy that is limping at best and an ongoing quagmire in Iraq .

For Kerry it's telling the truth about his anti-war stance of 1971 ~ regardless of the risks.

Roger K Smith , Common Dreams , says it clearly in an open letter to Kerry ;

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0830-06.htm

Your anti-war stance of 1971 has become your greatest vulnerability, simply because you've been unwilling to embrace it. Yet for many of us who are familiar with your life story, it actually represents your greatest strength. Opposing that misbegotten war, putting on your uniform and telling the Senate why, required authentic, gutsy, true leadership.

You have staked your candidacy on the claim that you can be trusted to guide the ship of state through dangerous waters. You cast this election, correctly, as a choice between a phony leader and a real leader. Yet by refusing to own up to this admittedly controversial example of your leadership, you have undermined your case. This is the most unkindest flip-flop of all.

Tonight we will hear from Mr Doom himself, Dick Cheney, who , in reality, is the chief executive of this badly listing ship of state as well as the one who never stopped hammering directly at the supposed connections between the 9/11 attacks, Saddam's regime, al-Qaeda, and the invasion of Iraq .

As such, this is Cheneys convention and he's not about to admit he got hoodwinked and misled by his alter ego Chalabi .

Expect the danger buttons to be pressed throughout his speech ~ for this is an administration whose only support system now is fear.
