Love one another ' ~ Those words were pronounced two thousand years ago but today they sound again in our ears in a very different tone. It no longer says ' Love one another inorder to be perfect ' but adds, ' love one another or you perish ! ' Realistic minds are welcome to smile at dreamers who speak of a humanity cemented and armoured no longer with brutality but with love .....however, we are inevitably approaching a new age , in which the world will throw off its chains and at last give itself up to the power of its inner affinities : Teilhard de Chardin
I am proud to be one of those dreamers but my dreams are cemented in the proven reality that what is deepest within all of us is love and that we cannot resist this persistant universal urge to unite for much longer.
Individually when we resist this urge our health and well being is severely jeopardized and the same thing can be said for our country at the present time ~ for, plainly speaking, Bush is a divider and kerry is a uniter.
This election is a turning point in the politics of hate, war and separateness versus the politics of cooperation, diplomacy and world community ~ or, in other words, a world of ego consciousness versus a world of soul consciousness.
The lines have been drawn , we have reached an historic moment of choice which will effect our world for decades to come .
James Carroll, Boston Globe, calls it A New Politics of Love and writes ;
To say, " We must love one another or die" is only to say that, among nations, a new communal politics defines the only future there can be. But such life-or-death global change must begin here, and within this nation, politics is more contemptuous than ever. If hate defines us at home, how can we hope for love abroad ? There is the thing to fear. "
If hate defines us at home, which it certainly does with the Bush Administration, how can we hope for a better world for ourselves and our children .
And Carroll is right ~ Hatred is the thing to fear and it's within ourselves ~ not ' out there ' externalized through the ' evil doers ', the ' Axis of Evil ' and terrorists.
Bush's base support is angry white christian conservative males ( just like Bush ) who do not trust the government , hate the United Nations, trust only the Bible( their interpretation ) and strongly believe that MIGHT MAKES RIGHT ~ and that George W Bush is ' The Divine Warrior ' ( read Revelations 19 The Apocalypse).
Have we forgotten the words of Carl Sandberg?
For we know that when a nation goes down and never comes back, when a society or a civilization perishes, one condition may always be found ~ they forgot where they came from . They lost sight of what brought them along .
Or the words of Benjamin Franklin ?
Wise and good men are, in my opinion, the strength of the state; much more so than riches and arms .
Take a quick test ~ name three things that Bush has done in the true spirit of cooperation, altruism and for the good of mankind ~ that didn't have a payoff for his corporate cronies .
Still thinking ~ still racking your brain ?
O.K. ~ name just one .
If that was impossible, which it was for me, than vote for John Kerry and let's finally get back on track .
Let's give integrity, cooperation and peaceful diplomacy a chance ~ America's direction, moral credibility and survival is at stake.
