Allen L Roland's Radio Weblog
My ongoing theme is always the truth , as I see it , and the exposure of lies, deception and manipulation wherever they exist. I remain firmly convinced that the world can no longer resist its innate urge to unite and co-operate with one another and we are very close to the point where war can no longer be an option if this transformation is to occur. IRAQ IS A NEOCON THEME PARK

What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty and democracy?: Mohandas Gandhi.

I originally wrote this blog on  the mad destruction of Iraq on Saturday, June 7th, 2003  (  based on Kendrick Hertzberg's , New Yorker, brilliant interpretation of the Iraq occupation ) and apon review ~ I find it is even more appropriate  today. For then as it is now ~ this
occupation is a neocon grab for global power and OIL.

Iraq has indeed become a theme park for neo conservative policy remedies ~ most of which have miserably failed.

We must  finally face the reality that a small group of neo-conservatives have hijacked our country and its core values ~ and replaced  them with their own ~ with Iraq being their theme park.

Excerpt: " The stunning insight Hertzberg offers is that this chaos is by design and that the Bush Administration " doesn't believe in functioning, efficient, reliable services ~ doesn't believe that they should exist, and doesn't believe that they can exist ."

A NEW SLANT ON IRAQ

Hendrick Hertzberg , in the June 9th, 2003 issue of the New Yorker, offers a stunning yet completely logical interpretation of the Bush Administrations handling of the Iraq occupation.

With chaos reigning in Baghdad , Hertzberg writes " one of the few things that thrives now in Baghdad, at least, is a deepening distrust and anger towards the United States."

The stunning insight Hertzberg offers is that this chaos is by design and that the Bush Administration " doesn't believe in functioning, efficient, reliable services ~ doesn't believe that they should exist, and doesn't believe that they can exist ."

He goes on to say  that the Republican leadership " does not believe  that society , through the mechanisms of democratic government, has a moral obligation to provide care for the sick, food for the hungry, shelter for  the homeless and education for all ; and to the extent that they tolerate such activities they do so grudgingly ~ out of political necessity."

Are we not seeing such behavior manifested in the present " so called " recently passed tax cut ~ where millions of the poor have been cast aside for the needs of the rich.

But here is his brilliant analogy of this Neo-conservative
Republican idealogy in regards to the role of Iraq as a role model for this philosophy ; " In a way, Iraq has become a  theme park of conservative policy nostrums .
There are no burdensome government regulations.
Health and safety inspectors and environmental busybodies are nowhere to be seen. The Ministry of finance is a scorched ruin and Museums and other cultural institutions , emptied of their contents, no longer have much use for public subsidies."

Hertzberg brings this all home by defining this administrations domestic policy " as consisting almost solely of a never ending campaign to reduce the taxes of the very rich ."

We must end this co-dependent relationship we have with this administration and stop wishful thinking .
We must face the reality that a small group of neo-conservatives have hijacked our country and its core values ~ and replaced  them with their own.

Hertzberg  makes  the  same  point  in  his  ending paragraph;" Whatever  one  may  think  of  the  global democratic-imperial  ambitions  of  the  present administration,  they  cannot  long  co-exist  with  the combination of narrow greed and public neglect it thinks sufficient for what it is pleased to call the Homeland.
At some point ~the sooner the better ~ a critical mass of
Americans will notice. "

Are you noticing ?
