UNDERSTANDING THE FORCE / ROLAND

Understanding the force means understanding the subliminal message of George Lucas's Star Wars epic. All the clues are there to be heard in the final episode ~ Revenge of the Sith .
Yoda described it fully to Luke on Dagobah when he said “My ally is the force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter... You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere.”
And therein lies the key . Understanding the force means feeling the force and the state of consciousness associated with it which I believe is Jung's Collective Unconscious, the path of Tao and my Unified Field of love and soul consciousness.
Lucas is subliminally playing to the record number of younger Americans who have turned away from institutionalized religion and firmly believe not only in a higher power and purpose to their lives but in a translucent order to the universe as well as the immortality of their souls. As such, life and love are eternal and exist beyond time and space.
But it is Carl Jung who brought this basic cosmic rhythm of the universe into the world of consciousness with his theory of the Collective Unconscious.
Jung was intrigued with the non-rational factors, such as emotions and feelings, that afflicted his patients, It was these factors that led him to his deep probing of the human psyche and the world of the unconscious mind.
The more Jung explored the inner regions of the psyche, the more he was convinced of its non-rational roots:
" It is an almost absurd prejudice that existence can only be physical. As a matter of fact, the only existence of which we have immediate knowledge is psychic. We might as well say, on the contrary, that physical existence is a mere inference, since we know matter only insofar as we perceive psychic images mediated by the senses. "

It would certainly seem as if Jung was describing a reality which was determined by the consciousness of the observer.
June Singer writes in Religion and the Collective Unconscious of Jung's conception of the collective unconscious:
" The collective unconscious, as Jung conceived it, does not derive from personal experience but precedes the individual in time. It is not individual, but universal, carrying traces of the entire evolution of the species. Thus, the collective unconscious is a principle identical in all man and constitutes a substratum of a suprapersonal nature which is present in all man. "
What else but a psychic energy of love could precede us in time ?
What else but love could be both universal and carry the traces of the entire evolution of the species taken in terms of its urge to unite and complete itself as well as the altruistic effect on the survival of the species.
What else but love could constitute a substratum of a suprapersonal nature which is present in all men ?
Even Jung's theory of synchronicity ( meaningful coincidences ) can be easily explained as the working out of our individual destinies which are connected to others within a universal loving plan.
Jung speaks very little of love but when he does, he speaks of it as something beyond us but representing wholeness:
We are, in the deepest sense, the victims and the instruments of cosmogonic love. I do not use love in its connatations of desiring, preferring, favoring, wishing, and similar feelings but as something superior to the individual ~ a unified and undivided whole .

Jung's view of the collective unconscious is similar to Eastern religion's experience of TAO.
Tao means " The Way " and implies a process, path or reality which can not be rationally described . Jung's process of Individuation is, in reality, Tao or the way. It is also what Lucas refers to as the path of the Jedi ~ or what I call the path of the heart.
Chaung Tzu describes TAO as a force beyond time and space:
" The way has its reality and its signs but is without action or form. It is its own source, its own root. It was born before heaven and earth, and yet, you cannot say it has been here for long. It is earlier than the earliest time, and yet, you cannot call it old. "

What else but LOVE has its own reality and signs but is without action or form.
What else but love is its own source, its own root ?
What else but love was born before heaven and earth but is also timeless ?
What else but love is earliest than the earliest time and yet cannot be called old ?
Jung shares his understanding of TAO in The Interpretation of Visions:
" Tao is incomprehensible. Tao is sort of semiconsciousness, almost unconsciousness . That is why Tao is the beginning of things, the mother of everything, and also the crowning effect of everything; it is the beginning and the end... but this is what we call the unconscious ~ where ego consciousness simply comes to an end "
As such, Jung , Chuang Tzu and myself all realize , it is the force of ego consciousness that stands in the way of our experiencing the force of the collective unconscious, TAO or the Unified Field of love and soul consciousness.
When Anakin Skywalker puts on the mask of Darth Vader he has closed his heart and fully surrendered to the dark side ~ or ego consciousness.
How timely that Lucas's last episode comes out when America is in the process of doing the same thing with our illegal war and occupation of Iraq and far right neocon political ' absolutism '.
The battle for spirit or the way begins with each one of us in our capacity to surrender to love ~ or run away from it .
However. our eyes are only opened to this path when the most important law of nature is obeyed ~ the deepest innate demand and urge within each one of us to unite, love and cooperate with one another and thus become one with the Unified Field and a state of love and soul consciousness .
For the dark side or force of ego consciousness can never fully prevail because nothing can resist the innate universal urge to unite or force of soul consciousness .
As such , may the force be with you , in essence, means may you be in the field or, better yet ~ may you stay in your heart.
