Congratulations on your Salon Blog of 7/13/05 ROVE TAKING RAP FOR CHENEY ON PLAME CASE .
You are the only one in the media ( which includes the blogosphere ) which has not been sucked into the Rove charade.
There is a reason Bush calls Rove ' Turd Blossom '. Rove thrives when the dodo hits the fan and is a master of deception and particularly deflection ~ which is certainly the case in the Plame affair. Rove is just the tip of an iceberg of political deceit and moral disintegration within this administration.
Our Republic is in extreme danger.
You were right when you wrote that Rove reports to Cheney and, for that matter, so does Bush .
Within the White House Cheney is refered to as THE MAN and nothing, I mean nothing, gets approved without his blessing. There are two White Houses ~ the one the public sees with Bush playing his role as the presiding President who has a handle on everything with a carefully crafted image designed by Rove and then there's the Shadow White House ~ which has its own national security team and cabinet. The presiding president of the shadow white house is Dick Cheney who answers to no one and dictates policy without any checks and balances.
The smoking gun for this clandestine operation was The Office of Special Plans which you correctly wrote was put together specifically to re-engineer data regarding the threat posed by Iraq so as to manufacture justification for a decision to make war that had already been made.
That office reported directly to Dick Cheney and would have been uncovered if the 9/11 commission had completed the second half of their report which delt with the gathering of intelligence and the sources of that intelligence. Of course, the reason they didn't was because of White House pressure mainly from Cheney.
For your information the decision has already been made as to the next Supreme Court Justice and it is Gonzales . Can you believe the hubris of these people ! Gonzales was the author of the torture justification memos and he is about to be the next Supreme Court Justice. The White house spin is already painting him as unwanted by the hard right but thats just to get the wimpy Democrats to buy into him as a compromise candidate.
Bolton may be used as a bargaining chip to get Gonzales appointed ~ but the decision has been made .
As to the Iraq war ~ every effort is now being used to spin it as a justifed war on terrorism and, of course, Cheney has never let go of that case mainly because ot the incredible cost of his failed power grab.
If the public ever knew the true extent of the human cost of this so called war they would be storming the White House gates.
Here are some numbers for you ; An Iraqi humanitarian organization is reporting that 128,000 Iraqis have been killed since the U.S. invasion began in March 2003; The Puerto Rican government recently reported, after intensive investigation, that the number of Americans killed is over 4000 and that does not include the wounded who died while being flown to a hospital or died in such hospital ~ which would put the total closer to 9000.
This administration is steeped in lies and deception ~ mainly because it is being run by a shadow administration under the iron rule of Dick Cheney ~ who, once again, answers to no one. To put it simply, Cheney felt Wilson betrayed him so Rove was chosen to be the hit man who exposed Wilson's wife.
Keep up the good work and do not respond to this message ~ I will contact you when I feel you are on the right track ~ and you certainly are in regards to Rove taking the rap for Cheney.
