BUSH'S 'STAY THE COURSE' IS M ORAL SUICIDE
Cartoon by Steve Benson / Arizona Republic
"The point of public relations slogans like "Support our troops" and "Stay The Course" is that they don't mean anything ... That's the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody's going to be against, and everybody's going to be for. Nobody knows what it means, because it doesn't mean anything. Its crucial value is that it diverts your attention from a question that does mean something: Do you support our policy? That's the one you're not allowed to talk about.": Noam Chomsky
What ' Stay the Course ' really means to Bush is " Don't ask questions and just blindly drive over this Cliff in Iraq "
How can we stay the course on a path that was initiated from a place of lies, deception and moral pretentiousness ?.
If the American military presence in the region lasts another five years, the total outlay for the war could stretch to more than $1.3 trillion, or $11,300 for every household in the United States .
With over 60% of Americans not supporting Bush's policy in Iraq ~ it's time for us to take to the streets and demand a change in policy or a forced change in leadership. And that does not mean waiting for the mid term elections in 2006 ~ that means right now !
We have the power ~ look what happened in Spain and Kiev when their governments deceived them. The people took to the streets, and threw them out ~ we can do the same.
I feel exactly like Gary Hart who wrote these words in yesterday's Washington Post ~ " I want a leader who is willing now to say: "I made a mistake, and for my mistake I am going to Iraq and accompanying the next planeload of flag-draped coffins back to Dover Air Force Base. And I am going to ask forgiveness for my mistake from every parent who will talk to me."
