LYING WITH SINCERITY / GEORGE W BUSH
There is nothing more obvious than feigned sincerity when it's masking an outright lie : Allen L Roland
George W Bush has become the master of feigned sincerity particularly when he is telling an outright lie.
Let's use his recent statement to the world press
that " We do not Torture ".
That statement is destined to find its rightful place
in history along side of Richard Nixon's " I am not a crook ".
So let's look at the reality that we do, indeed torture and that Bush deliberately mislead America about the reasons for war.
Lie # 1 " We do not Torture "
1. What about all those torture pictures from Abu Ghraib.
2. The first hand stories of torture at Quantanamo.
3. The 2002 Justice Department memo seeking to justify torture.
4. Leaked reports of sending detainees to other countries for
the purpose of being tortured.
5. Dick ( Darth Vader ) Cheney lobbying congress to exempt
the CIA from rules prohibiting torture.
Lie # 2 " I did not deliberately mislead America into war
with Iraq ~ we have been cleared by the Senate
select intelligence committee and Silberman-Robb
commission. "
1. The Senate select committee on Intelligence only
completed the first half of its investigation and has yet
to conduct its inquiry into whether administration
officials cooked the intelligence by omitting
warnings and dissenting opinions.
Why havn't they, you ask ? Because the White
House will not release documents pertinent to
this inquiry.
Judge Laurence Silberman, Co-chairman of Bush's
commission on weapons of mass destruction, said
the following when releasing his report on March 31,
2005 , " Our executive order did not direct us to deal
with the use of intelligence by administration
policymakers and all of us were agreed that that was
not part of the inquiry ." |
