DREAMS / MESSAGES FROM THE SOUL
Dreams are messages from the soul meant to be enlisted in our transition from ego consciousness to soul consciousness: Allen L Roland
Time after time, in my work as a psychotherapist, I witness the inner dialogue my clients have with their dreams as they go through the process of self healing and ego death.
There are common themes during this process ~ being on a train, a ship, a plane are good examples ~ but movement through danger is always implied.
Carl Jung was convinced that deepest within the psyche lay all the answers for the unfolding and perfection of each human being. It was the ' Unconscious ' , the unknown aspect of the human psyche that Jung was particularly intrigued by ~ especially its directing influence on the mind:
Though the conscious mind must direct, it should not hold itself an autonomous tryant. One's conscious decisions should be guided by an awareness of the messages from one's deeper unconscious levels, for indeed, our consciousness does not create itself ~ it wells up from unknown depths.

I vividly still remember a dream I had in the 1970's when my whole ego centered world was crashing all around me and I felt like I was entering a black hole of never ending grief.
I was flying in an airplane that was dangerously close to the ground and was dodging buildings in a city ~ it was terrifying ~ suddenly the plane dove into a dark hole and it felt like I was going to crash. Suddenly a door opened on the side of the plane and I walked out and found myself in front of a church on top of a hill. In front of the church was an announcement message board and the message was this quote from Teilhard de Chardin ~ Love alone is capable of uniting living beings in such a way as to complete and fulfill them ~ for it alone takes them and joins them to what is deepest within themselves. I woke up knowing that I was now aware of a great truth and I needed to share it. I also felt a deep sense of knowing and a desire to be in service ~ which is very similar to the after effects of a near death experience.
That quote from Teilhard de chardin later became the foundation of my Unifed Field Theory which states The basic underlying and unifying force of the universe is a psychic energy field of love and soul consciousness ( the Unified Field ) which lies not only beyond time and space but also beneath our deepest fears.
So that dream was a message from my soul meant to be enlisted in my painful transition from ego consciousness to soul consciousness and also contained a universal truth that I needed to share with mankind ~ which I since have in my practice, books and on my website www.allenroland.com
Now we have recent evidence of the power of dreams as it relates to people who are getting ready to die .
In their illuminating book DREAMING BEYOND DEATH Kelly Bulkeley and Patricia Bulkley document this same dream phenomenon with Hospice patients getting ready to pass on.
Two cases stand out;
A former Sea captain Bill was having difficulty accepting his terminal diagnosis and then he had a dream telling him that everything was going to be all right;
I am sailing again in uncharted waters and the old sense of adventure comes back . I feel the tingle of excitement again, of pushing through the waves in the vast, dark, empty sea but knowing I am right on course.
Suzanne was an elderly woman in a hospital suffering from the final stages of a terminal disease. The night before she peacefully died she shared this dream;
I see a candle lit on the windowsill of the hospital room and suddenly the candle goes out. Fear and anxiety ensue as the darkness envelopes me. Suddenly the candle lights on the other side of the window and I awaken.
That story reminds me of a wonderful quote from Teilhard de Chardin from The Activation of Human Energy;
But how much more comforting and ' electrifying ' for our efforts would it not be if some signal or sign, some summons or some echo, should come to us from beyond death and give us positive assurance that some center of convergence does really exist ahead of us.
It appears that we are now receiving many signals and numerous signs that this center of convergence, which I would call a state of Soul Consciousness, lies not only beyond death but also beneath our deepest fears.
The best example would be the Gallup reported 50% of Americans who have felt and seen the presence of a loved one after they died ~ an event called the after-death experience.
I am one of these people for in 1987 my mother suddenly unexpectedly died 3000 miles away. At the moment of her death she appeared sitting on my bed after I heard her calling my name Allen, Allen ....Her presence was deeply loving and she said these words Allen, I know , I know .
Two days later I was notified of her death and I fully realized the extraordinary loving gesture she had made to me from beyond death. She had read my Unified field Theory some months prior to her death which fully explains this field of love and soul consciousness that exists beyond time and space as well as beneath our deepest fears.
So she came back to me from beyond death to not only let me know how deeply she loved me but to let me know that she now knew what I knew.
In summary, how comforting it is to know that our dreams are constant reminders that a world of love, joy, peace, purpose and soul consciousness lie not only beyond death but also beneath our deepest fears ~ if we will but listen and respond.
As such, we cannot escape our destiny and it is divine ~ so why not do it right now by completely surrendering to love versus living in fear.
