In what could easily be called the greatest college championship game of all time ~ Vince Young led the Texas Longhorns to a thrilling come from behind victory over USC in the final 19 seconds .
Talk about pressure ~ Young stumbled and then scampered into the end zone on fourth and five with just 19 seconds left in the ballgame.
But the defining moment for the phenomenal Young was when he lined his team up for the ensuing two point conversion and then followed his four horseman of the apocalypse offensive linemen right up the middle and into the end zone.
That was the dagger in the heart of USC who had wasted a timeout and were still reeling from Young's heroics .
What a pleasure to watch these two heavyweights courageously slug it out for the National Championship ~ especially in these times of political corruption, deception and uncertainty.
Young has ensured his elevated place in history with his mind boggling 200 yards rushing, three touchdowns and 267 yards passing.
Pete Carroll also gave clear evidence of why he couldn't make it as an NFL coach . The true test of a NFL coach is how they handle the last two minutes of a game ~ since professional teams are so evenly matched .
Carroll would continually get flustered and lose control of the game in the NFL ~ much to the consternation of the fans and his employers.
And that is exactly what happened last night in the Rose Bowl ~ Carroll blew a needed time out after Texas's last score and his final play with 8 seconds left in the game was confusing to his team as well as the fans.
Not having Bush in the backfield, for atleast a distraction, on USC's vital fourth and two with just two minutes left, allowed Texas to stack the middle and stop White inches short of a clinching first down ~ thus setting the stage for Texas last drive and dramatic touchdown.
It was a game for the ages and the best coached team won ~ but Vince Young's performance will live forever in the memories of those sports fans who truly appreciate the authenticity and majesty of an athletic performance that rises to the level of immortality.
