Allen L Roland's Radio Weblog
My ongoing theme is always the truth , as I see it , and the exposure of lies, deception and manipulation wherever they exist. I remain firmly convinced that the world can no longer resist its innate urge to unite and co-operate with one another and we are very close to the point where war can no longer be an option if this transformation is to occur. WHITE HOUSE MUFFLES ROBERTS

The Senate Intelligence Committee, under the leadership of Pat Roberts, has become a toothless watchdog ~ muffled by the Cheney/Bush administration.

The Center for American Progress calls it a Cover-Up committee and has compiled a comprehensive report outlining cover-ups of pre-war Iraq intelligence, White House complicity in Acts of torture against detainees and other important national security issues.

Earlier this week, the Senate Intelligence Committee, chaired by Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS), voted along partisan lines to avoid a clash with President Bush over his domestic spying program. The New York Times writes that the intelligence committee has become "so paralyzingly partisan that it could not even manage to do its basic job this week." By voting down a sensible proposal offered by Sen. John Rockefeller (D-WV) to comprehensively review the spying program, Roberts failed once again to demonstrate he has the leadership to conduct the required oversight of the Bush administration. As Rockefeller said, "This committee is basically under control of the White House." It was "no surprise that Mr. Roberts led this retreat;" he has been doing the "president's dirty work" repeatedly over the past few years in his efforts to stonewall investigations into important national security matters. The Progress Report has compiled a comprehensive report detailing how Roberts and his Senate Cover-Up Committee have obstructed investigations into the Bush administration's use of pre-war Iraq intelligence, the administration's complicity in acts of torture against detainees, and the White House's outing of a former CIA agent, among other issues. (Click here to see the report.) By failing to properly investigate important national security matters, Roberts has missed crucial opportunities to correct the administration's misguided policies in the war on terror.

GORDON PARKS / A CELEBRATION         OF THE POSSIBLE

Gordon Parks, center, with his peers after a portrait session featuring himself and other
prominent African-American photographers in Harlem.

Gordon Parks 1913 ~ 2006

A rebelGordon Parks fashioned a career that resisted categorization.                No matter what medium he chose for his self-expression,                     Photography, Filmmaker, Poet, Novelist   he sought to challenge       all stereotypes while still communicating to a world audience.

In finding early acclaim as a photographer, despite a lack of professional      training, he became convinced that he could accomplish whatever             he set his heart and  mind to.

To an astonishing extent, he succeeded .

His life was a celebration of the possible and this photo truly
captures the spirit of this pioneer who refused to say NO to                himself and the world.
