AL GORE'S AN INCONV ENIENT TRUTH / A MASTERPIECE OF UNDERSTATEMENT
It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly and wisely: Al Gore
Al Gore's AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH is a superb masterpiece of understatement ~ in that its simple, restrained, low-key and unembellished message of the shocking consequences of global warming touched me and a packed movie house profoundly.
Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Gore's personal boyhood history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change.
Gore comes across as humble, thoughtful and compelling and I found myself both gripped and deeply affected by his haunting message.
Gore lays out the facts in a charming, funny and engaging style mixing in poignant stories of the death of his sister from cancer and the near death of his young son from a tragic accident ~ which helped him realize how precious life is and his responsibility to preserving life as we know it.
Gore has become a citizen of the world and this film is a testament to his growing sense of global consciousness.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of a bitter and humbling defeat in 2000 ~ Gore has transformed himself into a steward for the planet and, as such, has finally become, unlike Bush, truly presidential in both stature and worldwide respect.
He is the man to lead the Democrats and America out of the wilderness of fear and indecision. With this film Gore has transcended partisan politics and is now in service to mankind ~ a nobel calling indeed, but a necessary one, if he is to lead our country back to its former greatness.
The theater was packed and no one left until the final credit roll ended and I'm sure they must have been thinking along the same lines I was as they left the theater ~ it's time for a change in direction.
The brief references to the Bush administration were factual in regard to their ignoring the Global warming phenomenon but they rightfully looked small and self centered when stacked up against this global wake up call ~ that much of the rest of the world is already responding to.
For, in essence, this brilliant yet understated film is a far more powerful endictment of the selfish, greedy and self serving consciousness of the Cheney/Bush administration ~ than all of Michael Moore's documentaries.
This must see film could well be the catalyst for a major shift in consciousness by Americans who see it and realize that they can no longer settle for the empty and deceptive rhetoric of the Cheny/Bush administration ~ and, instead, must elect leaders who reflect Gore's global consciousness as well as our innate need to cooperate with each other and protect the planet.
