Allen L Roland's Radio Weblog
My ongoing theme is always the truth , as I see it , and the exposure of lies, deception and manipulation wherever they exist. I remain firmly convinced that the world can no longer resist its innate urge to unite and co-operate with one another and we are very close to the point where war can no longer be an option if this transformation is to occur. THEATER OF THE ABSURD / HOUSE IRAQ WAR ' DEBATE '

After voting themselves a raise ~ the House of Representatives gave clear evidence of why the American people have generally lost confidence in them ~ as seen in their shameless charade of a meaningful debate on Iraq.

The Center for American Progress caught a snapshot of this absurd madness.

IRAQ -- LITTLE SUBSTANCE IN SHRILL IRAQ WAR 'DEBATE'

House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) wanted yesterday's congressional Iraq debate to be characterized by a "serious, dignified tone of deliberation." But that's not how the 11-hour session, "carefully engineered by the Republicans in charge," turned out.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) set the tone by arguing that supporters of President Bush's Iraq policy "show the same steely resolve as those men and women on United flight 93, the same sense of duty as the first responders who headed up the stairs of the Twin Towers." (Watch the video.)

Rep. Charlie Norwood (R-GA) claimed that opponents of the Bush policy "lack the will to win," and framed the vote on the sham Iraq resolution with the following question: "Is it Al Qaeda, or is it America?

Late, after thanking Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) for his "big heart" and his "visits to the wounded," Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) concluded: "Thank God he was not here and prevailed after the bloodbaths at Normandy and in the Pacific or we would be here speaking Japanese or German."
