NEW ORLEANS WILL SURVIVE BUSH THROUGH ITS MUSIC
Katrina Progress report : 1,833 lives lost. 270,000 homes destroyed. 56 billion in insured damage. Up to $1.4 billion American tax dollars wasted by FEMA.
Gulf Coast Recovery Coordinator Donald E. Powell has admitted that nearly a third of the trash in New Orleans has yet to be picked up. Sixty percent of New Orleans homes still lack electricity and just 66 percent of public schools have reopened. Yes, this is our Iraq and the soft underbelly of America's growing number of poor and disenfranchised is now visible to the world.
Yet, New Orleans will survive Katrina and Bush's incompetence eventually through its music ~ just as America will survive Bush's incompetence through an enlightened electorate who will eventually claim their power and rescue our crumbling Republic from a corrupt Cheney/Bush neocon hurricane of ineptitude, arrogance and hypocrisy.
In that regard, recently New Orleans Tourism Marketing Received a Silver World Medal In the Annual New York Festivals Competition held on the stage of the Hudson Theater in Times Square for “Do They Play Jazz in Heaven,” a three minute music video produced during the filming of NOTMC’s 2005 advertising campaign.
The video features Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra led by local vocalist Ingrid Lucia.
The entry was among 2,500 television and radio ads from 83 countries. The jury was composed of more than 100 creative directors representing 41 countries who chose the best in product as well as consumer advertising and public service advertising.
