BUSH DOUBLING DOWN ON A LOSING HAND
|
There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people for a purpose which is unattainable." : U.S. historian Howard Zinn, 1993 |
The Cheney/Bush administration along wih their loyal poodle Tony Blair are about to double down on their worst possible hand at the Iraq blackjack table.
With already over 655,000 innocent Iraqi deaths ( Lancet ) on their conscience ~ they are about to announce a surge of atleast 20,000 more troops to prove that they were right and the wimpy Democrats and American Public ( 75% against war ) are wrong.
This illegal war and occupation was morally wrong from the beginning and no amount of extra troops is going to change that worldwide condemnation and verdict .
The first law of Holes is to stop digging ~ so we need to take the shovels away from these self righteous and shameless moral cowards who refuse to face the reality of the bloody quagmire they alone have created.
The American Progress Report analyses this bad hand and points out those who are not being listened to.

One defense official called the plan a "double down." The Los Angeles Times reports today "strong support has coalesced in the Pentagon" for a surge in troop levels. Only a month ago, Gen. John Abizaid, the top U.S. Commander in Iraq, said he "met with every divisional commander, General Casey, the core commander, General Dempsey" to discuss the idea of troop level increase. "They all said no," Abizaid said.
But now, Bush is signaling he may ignore the opinions of top military leaders in Iraq like Abizaid, the Iraq Study Group, and the American people. The Army and Marine Corps are already stretched to the breaking point. "At least two-thirds of Army units in the United States today are rated as not ready to deploy," and it is estimated the Army "will need $18 billion a year to repair, replace and upgrade destroyed and worn-out equipment."
