EUROPE SAYS GOODBYE TO BUSH WITH PROFOUND RELIEF
Europeans have always rightfully seen George W Bush for what he really is ~ a moral coward masquerading as a world leader but also, in reality, a recognized force of evil in the world: Allen L Roland
To Europeans, George W Bush has always appeared as a dangerous and unbalanced moral coward ~ swinging away at imaginary enemies while creating countless more with his self serving neocon agenda ~ while a patronizing mainstream press and Congress let him get away with it.
Posed on his wooden horse of hubris he has become
a modern day Don Quixote flailing away at the windmills
of an evil world that he himself has helped create.
The Center for American Progress reports that Anti-American sentiment in Europe runs high as a result of Bush's leadership. A recent poll by London's Daily Telegraph newspaper found that "more people in France, Germany and Britain view the United States as a 'force for evil' than good in the world."
The London Independent issued a scathing editorial yesterday reflecting on Bush's visit and his presidency: "Perhaps Mr. Bush's most significant legacy, as far as Britain is concerned, will be the destruction of the instinctive trust of America and its leaders that once prevailed here. It is no exaggeration to say that Mr. Bush has done more damage to relations between our two nations than any president in living memory. This rupture is not an accident of circumstance; there are no impersonal forces of history to blame. This sorry state of affairs is the consequence of the actions of a single leader and his small coterie of advisers. ... And whatever the future holds for transatlantic relations, there will be very few in this country who watched President Bush's plane depart yesterday without a feeling of profound relief that the end of this disastrous presidency is finally in sight."
