BIDEN WINS DEBATE CONVINCINGLY / PALIN IS DICK CHENEY IN DRAG
Last nights so-called debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin was revealing in that it showed that Joe Biden is more than ready to assume the presidency and Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney in drag: Allen L Roland
Last night, Sarah Palin delivered her rehearsed talking points well, but that didn't sway the voters: A CBS poll of uncommitted voters shows Biden won 46% to 21%, a landslide. A similar CNN poll shows a 51% to 36% victory for Biden.
Probably the most telling finding was a control group of 40 uncommitted women in Colorado of whom 8 thought Palin was unqualified to be Vice President before the debate. The post debate poll revealed that 22 now thought she was unqualified ~ and that finding is representative of most of the women I know or have contact with. http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/10/did_women_like_sarah
Palin is an albatross around McCains neck for three reasons; It blows his argument for the need of experience, it equally destroys his reputation for sound judgment while reinforcing his reputation as a loose cannon and irresponsible maverick.
There were two points during the debate when Palin strayed from her well rehearsed talking points and hurt herself badly ~ the first was when she said she wanted more Vice Presidential power which Biden leaped on particularly in regard to Dick Cheney's abuses of power as well as reminding her what a Vice President was actually responsible for.
The second was the very human point where Joe Biden mentioned the tragic death of his wife and child in an accident which brought tears to Biden's eyes ~ it was a moving moment and instead of exhibiting empathy, Palin went right to her talking points revealing a cold and calculating indifference to the feelings of others.
Biden was courteous and presidential ~ Palin was in her own heavily scripted world, winking at her own private audience and eagerly grasping her 90 minutes of unvetted fame. She was, quite simply, Dick Cheney in drag.
Eugene Robinson, Washington Post, called it the strangest debate he's ever seen. |
