Allen L Roland's Radio Weblog
My ongoing theme is always the truth , as I see it , and the exposure of lies, deception and manipulation wherever they exist. I remain firmly convinced that the world can no longer resist its innate urge to unite and co-operate with one another and we are very close to the point where war can no longer be an option if this transformation is to occur. THE DEATH OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

When a political party becomes by its very nature, suicidal, condescending and sanctimonious it is only a matter of time before it ceases to exist. That is the current state of the Republican Party and those attributes are so engrained into its “base” that it can never recover or re-brand itself : George Axxel Knutson

George W Bush has not only bankrupted the American economy with his tax schemes for the rich and economy draining illegal war and occupation of Iraq ~ but he has also destroyed the Republican Party by selling out to the far right conservative wing. This has resulted this year in the birth of the Obamacons ~ a growing army of conservative Obama supporters led by Colin Powell and with other big names like Susan Einsenhower and Christopher Buckley, the son of conservatrive icon William F Buckley.

The McCain / Palin ticket is an embarrassment to most Republicans who will either sit out this election or join the Obamacon army and vote for Barack Obama.

The Economist identifies the largest brigade in the Obamacon army as the Libertarians ~ " who are furious with Bush's big government conservatism, worried about his commitment to an open-ended " War on Terror " and disgusted by his cavalier way with civil rights ."

The  Economist goes on to say that " Much of Obama's rhetoric is strikingly conservative, even Reaganesque. He preaches the virtues of personal responsibility and family values and practices them too. He also talks in uplifting terms about the promise of American life . "

My dear friend George " Axxel " Knutson, Wall street Money Manager and financial pundit wrote me a letter expounding on the Death of the Republican Party or, as he calls it, The Party That Is No More.

Excerpts: " One of the most aggravating aspects of Republican Party is their manner.  They come from an attitude of superiority where they know what is best for us, where government will tell a young girl to have an unwanted child and where they can never admit a mistake in foreign or domestic policy.  And it is not entirely the fault of the Republican Party.  “Joe the Plumber” has a responsibility too.  Why does he not know that his life under an Obama administration would result in more money in his pocket?  He doesn’t make close to $250,000/year and yet one would think that he has stock options in Google !

Palin, of course, has done the Republicans no good whatever other than making the “base” even more strident and demonstrating to the electorate that the Republicans have become untrustworthy in the extreme.  The rest of the world looks at the Republican candidate for VP and gasp at the ineptitude of such a choice by the Republican standard-bearer. It is events and thinking inside the box that will bring doom to the Republican Party. "

And that's precisely the problem ~ the Republican party is thinking inside a egocentric, greedy and self centered box while Obama is calling on the nation to reject this irresponsible and divisive world view that has been the foundation of the Bush/Cheney/McCain administration ~ and instead embrace and cooperate with a world that is uniting.

Tom Engelhardt nails this impending death in his recent article ~ F is for failure: The Bush doctrine in Ruins ~ http://www.truthout.org/102208J

So there you have it ~  The Grand Old Party has become the Grumpy Old Party of worn out ideas with, quite appropriately, John McCain as its standard bearer but more than likely its Pallbearer on November 4th.
