An Iraqi reporter has done something millions of Americans have longed to do ~ throw something at our oblivious President , instead of the TV screen, and issue an obscenity in the process. Contempt has finally been served on Bush by an Iraqi who knows too well the brutal effect of our illegal war, occupation and economic rape of his country: Allen L Roland
The key to understanding George W Bush is understanding his almost psychotic fear of failure and humiliation which causes him to avoid reality at all costs and drives his messianic behavior and agenda ~ much like it did Hitler's in the 1930's. See ~ http://blogs.salon.com/0002255/2007/09/05.html
As such, Bush is an emotional cripple and bully playing out his sordid role in history and still does not fathom the chaos, grief and hardship that his policies have wrought. The Iraqi's know too well the hardship and strife Bush has brought on them and so it was fitting that a reporter offered him the ultimate insult ~ he threw his shoes at him and screamed ~
'This is a farewell kiss, dog.'
Iraqi reporter throws shoes at Bush, calls him dog 15 Dec 2008 " An Iraqi reporter threw his shoes at visiting U.S. President [sic] George W. Bush and called him a "dog" in Arabic during a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in Baghdad on Sunday. Muntadhar al-Zaidi, reporter of Baghdadiya television jumped and threw his two shoes one by one at the president, who ducked and thus narrowly missed being struck, raising chaos in the hall in Baghdad's heavily fortified green Zone. "This is a farewell kiss, dog," said Zaidi. Several security members wrestled the man to the floor and then dragged him out of the hall as he was screaming."
In Iraqi culture, throwing shoes at someone is a sign of contempt. For example, Iraqis whacked a statue of Saddam Hussein with their shoes after U.S. marines toppled it to the ground after the 2003 invasion.
Zaidi has instantly become a Middle East hero, and a symbol for the Iraqi resistance, but History will also not soon forget Bush's thoroughly discredited rationale for a self-serving war that has brought misery and death to hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's as well as distrust throughout the Arab world.
After this incident, Bush passed it off lightly "So what if I guy threw his shoe at me?"
But to millions more throughout the world, including myself, it was a fitting goodbye to a moral coward masquerading as a world leader ~ who well deserves this public contempt and humiliation.
