JENNER INN / WHERE THE RIVER MEETS THE SEA 

Every now and then I find something special and, as a columnist, I feel the need to share it with my readers, much like one of my movie reviews. The Jenner Inn and cottages is something special to be savored ~ like one of Sonoma County's fine wines : Allen L Roland

It's amazingly beautiful, like a sanctuary ~ San Francisco ChronicleJenner Inn and Cottages is nestled near the Sonoma Wine Country on the Northern California Coast, where the Russian River cascades into the Pacific Ocean. They are a leisurely 90 minute drive from San Francisco~ and less than 45 minutes from Sonoma.  That's right,  right across the Golden Gate Bridge, awaits an oasis of tranquility overlooking the Russian River in a spectacular natural setting at the Jenner Inn and Cottages.  

On Monday, October 12th ~ Keiko and I headed toward the Pacific Coast to spend a day and night at the Jenner Inn ~ which is nestled into the bay where the Russian River meets the Pacific ocean. The S.F. Chronicle is correct ~ " It's amazingly beautiful, like a sanctuary "

Our room overlooked the Bay as well as Penny Island and Goat Rock beach. It was a spectacular view especially since a fall storm was slowly approaching from the west and the sea birds were in full flight. Keiko loved the large Jacuzzi tub which also overlooked the bay and I thoroughly enjoyed the sauna which was right next door to our room.

We spent the afternoon exploring the Goat Rock state beach ( less than two miles away ) and had cocktails and appetizers at the Rivers End ( which was less than a mile away from our lodging ). Our Hotel host and Operations Manager Michaela Daniels was delightful and most informative about other Restaurants in the area including Cape fear but insisted we eat at the Jenner Inn and she was correct. Not only was the food and service delightful and reasonable but the cozy bar, fireplace and rustic milieu was perfect for our one day getaway.

You may well see us ~  for the Jenner Inn is now our special one or two day Pacific Coast getaway spot.
