I AM MY OWN GNOME*

STEAL THE T-SHIRT

*Those of you who are familar with the film Amelie will recall that she kidnapped her father's garden gnome, and sent it around the world with a friend working as a stewardess for Air France.  On her travels, the friend took polaroid pictures of the gnome posed in front of various world famous landmarks, and mailed them to Amelie's bemused father.  I don't have a gnome, so I use the ten second shutter delay on my digital camera, and pose as my own gnome.

Our Hajette Fiona has posted another update on her personal hejira:

(extracted from comments on her own blog, here)

I just returned from Ensenada MX, had fun staying with other artists there and shopping for tacky crap in town. My friend bought me a snazzy belt buckle with a real scorpion frozen in acrylic. I saw a Mexican band with a guy playing the accordion in the street. His instrument had leather straps with silver conchas. We bought fresh shrimp at the fish market there and had a shrimp feast later.

Tomorrow I head for Los Angeles, another big awesome Mammon-worshipping city. I plan to visit a big accordion store downtown and then later I'm visiting a friend who gives fantastically incicisve tarot card readings. The following day, I'll see my old chiropractor, and try to get some healing there. She used to always be able to put her finger on exactly what the problems were, physical or emotional. I expect to be shaken up a little bit by both of them but I'm asking for it.

The trip has opened up my past -- things I haven't thought about for a long time and that are shedding some new light on how and why my life has unfolded since then. It's been somewhat uncomfortable in spots but I expected this to happen and headed off into the unknown from Colorado thinking that I'd be in for some heavy duty reflection sooner or later. This journey is not just a road trip.

Enquiring minds (and Dr. Omed) would like to know if Fiona has found that special V. of G., Santa Maria Totlaconantzin.
