The long shadow of Dr. Omed down by the riverside (where else?) at sunset.

I've been walking quite a bit, as I mentioned in a previous post. I've been going full tilt at work, too, hopefully to good effect. I have my new camera in my pocket whenever I go for a stroll, and have already taken so many pictures no one but me would want to look at them all. Digitally enabled excess does, however, provide me with images to post when I haven't much to say.

This is perhaps the most dilapidated house I've ever laid eyes on. This is on the west side of the river, an industrial/low rent district to be sure, but, I mean really. It appeared that someone was still in residence, too.

I found a new way into the area just west of Turkey Mountain. I have no idea whether this is public or private land. This is a view of  (if I recall the name correctly) Mosier Creek from a hill above.

This is the view from creek level. Shortly after taking this picture I dropped my new camera in the water while crossing the creek on slippery stones. I thought I had killed it, but it came back from the dead.

I found a lot of trace fossils at exposed seams of shale. These are the tracks of creatures crawling on a muddy bottom, perhaps trilobites or some other arthropods. Or some sort of worm.

If it was a trilobite out for a stroll, the fossil track is called Cruziana.

Here is a different kind of track. On one hill someone had constructed a complex of ramps and other structures designed evidently for the use of insane bicycle acrobats. I don't know if this picture conveys how steep the ramp is, but take it from me, you'd have to be one crazy mo-fo to ride a bike down it.

One last picture. I have to confess that I left my faithful hound Annie Beagle at home on several of my recent walks. My need for solitude was such that I couldn't even take my dog. A week or so ago, Elspeth called me to the back window. I managed a quick snap through the window screen. Annie was walking the courses of the labyrinth, following the scent of footsteps taken there.
