WALKING NOTES

Lately, on work days, when the weather is fine, and I have time, I will leave my windowless cubicle in Hell, and take what I call a "sanity walk" on the gravel path that circumnavigates a nearby soccer park. It takes me about 15 minutes, and I always feel much better afterwards. The last two times I have walked the path, I have seen the same bird on the same telephone pole.

I am not an ornithologist, nor even a birder, but I suspect this guy is a sparrow hawk. If not a sparrow hawk, then a kestrel perhaps.

What do you think?

Tulsa is a pretty good place to watch birds. There are lots of herons on the river, and bald eagles nest along its banks. I saw a kingfisher the other day, and not twenty feet away, but was not quick enough with the camera to get a picture. I've seen Cardinals lately. All these fine sunny days in Not-Winter are ideal for birdwatching. Yup, there's no global climate change that blows nobody no good.
