SCENIC TULSA: GRAFFITI WATCH

SEE MORE AT DR. OMED'S ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS AND OKIE ARCANA

Dr. Omed is, in his own simple way, a committing fan of graffiti, and has previously posted examples of the art, as well as documenting the black ribbon campaign of months past. My crude stencils of black ribbons evidently have their own fans, and stenciled graffiti by more skilled hands has begun to appear beside the few remaining black ribbons that haven't been painted over by the street dept., as can be seen above. Not only that, but emails from anonymous writers have begun to arrive in my inbox, tipping me off to fresh local graffiti I may have missed. Dr. Omed welcomes, and has inspected and photographed such examples of the Tulsa School of "G." I mulled over the question of whether, by posting such images, I am speeding erasure of them by authorities or do-gooding dissident-hating art-hating citizens, but graffiti art is by nature ephemeral, lilies of the field that live for a day and pass away, and I console myself that I am preserving and propagating the art.
