POEM OF THE DAY

FIDES EX AUDITU

Toyou know who you are

Faith comes by listening

so says the saint.

Saint lives by dyiing

so says the angel.

Angel comes by falling

so says the snow.

Snow stays by loving

so whispers the word, that was god.

Word comes like lightning

so says the rain.

Rain leaves by arriving

so says the wind.

Wind falls by rising

so says the thunder.

Thunder lies by rolling

so says the lover.

Love comes by leaving

so says the river.

River rolls on whispering

so says the listener.

Faith comes by listening.

Dana Pattillo.

Note: Fides ex auditu, i.e., “faith comes by listening” comes from St. Augustine.
