GUEST POET: WARREN BROWN
America Awakens to Moral Values November 2004
America awakens to moral values and reaches around to pat its backside
I am amazed at this clarity like discovering the sun after nearly three score years of life
Like awaking in a strange skin or a strange bedroom where the ceiling light blazes one from sleep
And one sees a stranger's reflection in the mirror on an unknown wall
War does not matter illness does not matter hunger or hopelessness rusting factories crumbling hopes
Children abused unwanted born to empty breasts and empty hearts matter less than nothing
It is the sunshine of Moral Values that pertains, the happy grin of a life correctly tithed
No lie is too great to achieve morality no life is too small to ruin no ignorance too monstrous to yield to knowledge
All means justify and justice is its own paradise
Not here, perhaps not here in pain not here in doubt not here in Holy War
But in that great rising, that paradise promised by those Godly men in the white castle
Though great, our empire is just a dream awaiting the promise of poorly written novels that assure resurrection
We will cover our women keep them safe in their pens we will save our sperm we will covet our eggs and sacrifice our children
The noise of our snowmobiles and Humvees will sing a song to God and in our beds we will smile the smiles of sheep and wait for our shepherds to come for us in the night
