POEM OF THE DAY
Heptad To Elspeth, on the 7th anniversary of our marriage
Seven is a happy number in that it returns upon its squares to one.
Seven is prime. Divisible only by itself and one. Seven is a self number:
It cannot be generated by any other integer added to the sum of its single digit.
Seven is one of a series of integers each the sum of two previous terms
converging on the golden ratio. Seven is a lucky prime sieved from the sea of integers.
Seven is a safe prime; in a discrete logarithm, a key to the cryptogram of love.
Seven is both cardinal and ordinal, a special well-ordered set of all that came before it,
resolved from an infinity of non-empty sets by the axiom of choice.
Finite and unrepeatable these seven years will not fail of an itch.
