I AM MY OWN GNOME

Dr. Omed on Brooklyn Bridge
Those of you who are familar with the film Amelie will recall that she kidnapped her father's garden gnome, and sent it around the world with a friend working as a stewardess for Air France. On her travels, the friend took polaroid pictures of the gnome posed in front of various world famous landmarks, and mailed them to Amelie's bemused father. I don't have a gnome, so I used the ten second shutter delay on my digital camera, and posed as my own gnome.
Spaulding Gray's body was found floating in the East River on Sunday (my birthday), while I was a great time tramping about Manhattan. He'd been in the water nearly two months, so dental records were used to identify him. Tho' he was last seen alive on the Staten Island Ferry Jan. 10, and was known to have previously attempted suicide by jumping into the river, those who knew Gray or who followed his career were holding out the diminishing hope that he was out chasing a very wild hare. Alas, the Blue Angel had him by the short hair. As a fellow odd duck (manic) depressive, I know how tempting going over the railing can be. But NYC, even in the rain, drove away my winter blues.
