The Great British Spy Novelist (No, The Other One)
There's this thought that keeps occurring to me. In the wake of 9/11, all Americans should be required to familiarize themselves with the work of John LeCarre. At least a bit. This knowledge helps make oh, so much more sense out of the world today. At the very least, go out and rent the movie The Tailor of Panama. It really illuminates the relationship between British intellegence and American military power, as well as the pressure on spies (and by proxy their sources) to deliver actionable information up the chain whether credible or not.
