This is the Orwellian motto of the New Jersey-based Community Anti-Terrorism Training Institute, or CAT Eyes, an antiterrorist citizen informant program being adopted by local police departments throughout the East Coast and parts of the Midwest. Remember when the US threatened Belgium with Attack if Belgium Subpoenaed any US Citizen for the International Criminal Court? Isn't it interesting that the day the Belgian Attorney Filed War Crimes Charges Against US General Tommy Franks, the Belgian Embassy in Morocco was bombed?

AMENDMENTS to US Withdrawal
from ICC Agreement

Three anti-ICC amendments were proposed before the House and Senate within the past year: the Helms American Service Member's Protection Act (ASPA), the Hyde Amendment and, the DeLay ASPA. The Helms ASPA was initially adopted by the Senate in early December of last year. Its central tenets included the prohibition of all levels of government from cooperating with the ICC (meaning that if the ICC were investigating Saddam Hussien or Omar al-Bashir, for example, the United States could not provide assistance) as well as the use of whatever means necessary, including force, to release American citizens from ICC detention. For this point the amendment has been dubbed “The Hague Invasion Act.”

The role of women in new Iraq

History proves the importance of women's participation in diplomatic agreements. Yet only five of the 30 person Iraq Reconstruction Group are female, fueling fears that women will be marginalized by extremists. As the Christian Science Monitor reports , post-war Iraq may turn out to be a scarier place for women than Saddam's Iraq ever was.

  Blair, Bush, same difference
Tony Blair seems to adjust his policy and his rhetoric to suit Bush's fancy. His Foreign Secretary Jack Straw was the man who declared that some of Saddam's chemical or biological weapons could be deployed "within 45 minutes." But now, like the rest of the Bushies, he too has declared that uncovering Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction is "not crucially important."

Troops 'vandalise' ancient city of Ur
One of the greatest wonders of civilisation, and probably the world's most ancient structure - the Sumerian city of Ur in southern Iraq - has been vandalised by American soldiers and airmen, according to aid workers in the area.

How Republicans Can Win Big in 2004
By Ted Rall
It's an open secret that hard-right Administration ideologues are jonesing for another war. After briefly flirting with the possibility of an invasion of Syria, Paul Wolfowitz, Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) and Donald Rumsfeld are now quietly plotting wars of preemption against Iran and North Korea (news - web sites). It makes sense: as the world's third-largest oil producer and the strategic crossroad between Central Asia and the Middle East, Iran would make a handsome addition to the United States' growing portfolio of Muslim colonies. The U.S. occupation of Iran would also make possible a short, sweet pipeline route to carry oil and gas from the huge oil and gas fields in landlocked Kazakhstan, allowing the Bushies to abandon Karzai's Kabul city-state once and for all.

Presented in New York City at The Riverside Church
May 13, 2003 & Sponsored by the Center for Economic and Social Rights

In these times, when we have to race to keep abreast of the speed at which our freedoms are being snatched from us, and when few can afford the luxury of retreating from the streets for a while in order to return with an exquisite, fully formed political thesis replete with footnotes and references, what profound gift can I offer you tonight?
