The International Trade Institute is a branch of CETRA offering business and langauge training to the public. http://www.taiwantrade.com.tw/tpt/iti/folder00/subpage00.htm. My understanding is that their training is well-regarded in the Taiwan business community. CETRA employs a large number of foreign and local English teachers as instructors in this programe. It advertises regularly for teachers at their Shinju campus. Recently, they have begun advertising for corporate teaching positions in the southern part of Taiwan.
The International Trade Institute has received some bad comments on Dave's ESL Cafe Taiwan Job Information Journal http://www.eslcafe.com/jobinfo/asia/sefer.cgi?Taiwan and Jack's ESL Webring Grey List http://www.geocities.com/graylist_database/Taiwan.html. A recent comment on Dave's is very explicit about these complaints. http://www.eslcafe.com/jobinfo/asia/sefer.cgi?display:1055314043-29193.txt. Several other posts on Dave's answer the complaints made there. I have limited experience with the International Trade Institute. I once had a phone interview with a representative of the Institute who was among the rudest and most insulting people I have ever spoken with. On the other hand, a friend from my corporate teaching days has been working there for almost two years. She is extremely satisfied with the position. She believes that they offer the best contract short of a full-time university faculty position with paid holidays, accomodation, and a competative salary schedule.
Apparently, the positions in Kaohsiung have attracted a large number of applicants, and the Institute is no longer accepting applications for the position. However, if you are interested in future positions as a business English instructor for CETRA, e-mail your cover letter, resume, and two letters of reference to
lydiakuo@cetra.org.tw or call Lydia at (07) 336-3113, ext 22.
