The Ching Yin University of Technology
The June 28 China Post contains a combined Chinese/English-language advertisment for English teachers at the Ching Yin University of Technology. The ad states that the school is looking for Assistant Professors with a Ph.D. or Instructors with an MA. "Expertise in linguistics, EFL, CALL, translation, etc," is also stated.
Interested candidates are asked to send a copy of their ROC Ministry of Education faculty license or, if they do not have one, a description of their teaching and research experience to
229 Chien Han Rd., Chung-li, Taoyuan.
Chung-li is a medium-sized city located about an hour south of Taipei. I am unfamiliar with this school, but judging from the name, it appears to be a promoted junior college. The fact that the school is using a Chinese-language ad in the China Post is quite unusual. It is doubtful that most foreign teachers would be able to read the ad, but if the school is looking for local teachers, placing the ad in a Chinese-language paper would be much more effective. My impression is that the school is confused about how best to find the faculty they need. The ambiguity of the ad leaves many questions unanswered in my mind.
