You might ask yourself how the continued unknowing acceptance of these Spyware "offers" affects the integrity of a system.
The computers I get in here have flashing cursors, windows that pop up and won't go away, the systems are absolutely crazy and unusable. They act just like virus-infected systems, but they have NO VIRUSES! It is PURE SPYWARE that is BREAKING these systems. Spyware promulgated by your employer.
I mean, hey, I don't mind the extra business, but this is going to be a problem in the future. SPYWARE BRINGS A SYSTEM DOWN. SPYWARE BREAKS SYSTEMS.
Right after spam, and Linux/SCO, etc., the SPYWARE issue is going to rear its ugly head and GATOR is going to be right in the crosshairs.
You heard it here first.
I mean, think about it:
1. A computer comes into my shop ( www.computer-guru.com ) , sick as a dog, barely functional, but it's got no virus. It's riddled with spyware.
2. The spyware is removed. NOTHING ELSE IS DONE to the system.
3. The computer returns to perfect health!!!
Substitute "spyware" for "virus" in every single step of this process, and there's no real difference. Hey, spam is just an *annoyance* but spyware is beginning to cost people MONEY -- and zowee, you can't hurt people in this consumer society any more deeply than by aiming at their precious pocketbooks. People murder for money; they will murder you if you end up costing them money unnecessarily and without their consent. You say you've got the consent, but you wouldn't stand a chance in a jury trial.
How come when I tell Windows to remove "Precision Time" (Gator Spyware App) from my system, it keeps coming back!!! Even Bill Gates' attorneys would have a hard time defending against that little technical factoid!
Again, this is all for YOUR benefit. I'm actually making money on all this. But there will be a backlash in the future against spyware, trust me. Even the name is damning.
