Waiting for the Neocon Victory Dance
I will be curious to see what Hitchens and Co. make of this .
Now, I don't claim to know what we are going to find in Iraq. Maybe there are a bunch of nasty weapons that have been cleverly (and inexplicably) concealed. But I don't see any need for the war doubters to start making the apologies that are about to be demanded of them. Bush didn't say that we need go to war because a centifruge has been sitting under a damn rose bush for twelve years. He said that Iraq was on the verge of attacking us. If anything, this particular piece of evidence suggests that the containment strategy was working. Hussein wanted to develop a bomb, but he couldn't because he was under too much scrutiny.
If the weapons are eventually found, I am sure that Hitch will be ready to apologize for calling Bush a liar and Kerry a dupe. Right? Or maybe he will remember that he was a "dupe" too, and proclaim that as a sign of his own good judgement.
