Yesterday was Shitty.

Ok.  Not the entire day. Dave is nearly finished with the new bathroom accessories, and the BUB is looking better and better.  We saw A Mighty Wind and thought it was pretty hysterical. Best of all, Dave got the official notice of passing his Senior Professional in Human Resources (PSHR) test with a score of 94%!  Woohoo!

However, my effort to clean and orgranize the house has left it so that nothing is clean and nothing is organized any better than it was.  (I did move a full length mirror from one room to another.  3 hours of rearranging and we move a mirror!  Yippee!)  The Devil Dog chewed through the phone cord--luckily, it was "low voltage."  I'm too fat to fit into any of my clothes except my white pants with their lovely new clay colored paw prints in the front pockets--a stain that the local paper declares is next to impossible to remove.

Truly, that is normal stuff.  The turning point came when the bumper of the less-than-one-year old Jetta nearly fell off yesterday afternoon when we pulled out of a parking space.  No--we did NOT hit anything.  This is the 3rd time that parking in a spot with a barrier at the end has resulted in increasingly violent bumper reactions.  Three times.  One year.  It's Not Us. We're old farts who have owned multiple cars.  We have never damaged our previous cars by simply parking them.  There's no sound or scraping going in....coming out, the grill and now bumper are falling off.  We've already spent $400 fixing this f'ing problems and now we have to go back.  Consumer Reports....Here We Come!  (Big Thanks to my clever husband who got on his knees in the mud to push and prod the bumper back onto the car.  Our moods didn't recover from our knowledge that several hundred more dollars are going to be thrown at the car---but he saved us a bumper right then.)

For dinner, we went to the "best" sushi restaurant in Charlotte.  It's depressing to go out to the "best" restaurants here.  They are either good and really expensive (as in L.A. expensive) or they are just lame.  Fried fish wrapped in rice?  Folks, that is not sushi.

Appropriately, we drove home in the worst rainstorm I've seen outside a hurricaine. We couldn't even see the streets. It rained 3 inches in 2 hours.  That, my friends, is what is meant by raining monkeys.  Water was flooding up over the lane dividers.  Our driveway was flooded from the road to the garage.  We heard on the news this morning that there are two sinkholes which have shut roads on either side of Plaza-Midwood, our neighborhood.  The latest rumor is that we may have sunshine TUESDAY!  OH MY GOD!

Today's goal is to Finish.  To finish cleaning the house.  To finish the BUB.  To finish the weekend on a high note--oddly enough at the free outdoor Charlotte Symphony Pops concert, which lucky for us, doesn't suck.
