Monday morning.  Revved up with two cups of coffee and too little sleep.  Ready to pass on our traveling tips to you.

Of course, it rained most of the time we were in Cape Cod.  Why wouldn't it?  Apparently, we are the rain gods and our followers of worshipping clouds will hunt us down and honor us with water from the skies no matter how far we travel.

OK.  So here is our main tip for you when you travel.  It is something both Dave and I have learned over many work conferences and weddings.  As soon as you get the invitation and it says they have reserved rooms at a local hotel for the wedding party (or conference), GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASS AND MAKE A ROOM RESERVATION NOW.  If you don't go, you can cancel the room reservation and lose nothing! If you do go, you are stationed in the official place.  Things are organized around that location.  DO IT.

On the other hand, do not wait until the last moment, panic and then simply search the web for a place to stay.  (Also, remember you can always call the bride & groom and make their lives more stressful by asking for a room recommendation)  And if you DO find a place on the web which is only slightly outrageously priced say, for example, a bed and breakfast, check the pictures very, very, very carefully.  Folks:  a bed & breakfast in a house from the 1880's is incredibly romantic; one from the 1980's?  Not so much.  And when you call up to ask if they are "close" to the church and reception, remember that distances when you're out in the middle of no fucking where are different than distances in a city.

Be sure, however, to conduct well orchestrated hissy fits about panic-induced-accomodations once a week until arrival, saving the best one for when one has already checked into said accomodations thus guaranteeing there is absolutely no way of changing it.

Teehee.

So that's an overview of the trip to the cape.  By the last day, the B&B was fine.  Our host was very interesting.  Breakfast was good.  It was, however, like staying in somebody's house; not  like one's idea of a New England B&B.  It was definitely more like you were visiting a college roommate's house, and they forgot to join you.

The wedding was a blast.  Truly, it was 12 hours of celebration from time the wedding started until the "after party" when Dave and I packed up the car for the long trip back to the woman's house we were staying at.  Yesterday, Dave and I also decided to think long and hard before taking a trip out of Raleigh (NC) again.  Charlotte's airport is monopolized by US Air.  That's really the only airline that serves it.  One can usually save hundreds of dollars by traveling out of Raleigh.  However, on a good day, it's a 2 hour drive to Raleigh.  (Thursday's trip took 3 hours.  Yippee!)  Last night as we rolled in at 11:30 pm, we began to realize that despite being cheap asses, we are OLD FARTS.  We need our beauty rest.

Back to work.  It's sunny today, though, and I may need to tool about the yard exposing my skin to some much needed Vitamin D.
