Blogs I Read
No Whining Last Night!
The Mojitos were a hit! The first batch, I tried to recall the directions on how much to put in of what and I put too much lime juice. The second batch, I checked the blog, adjusted the amounts and they were delicious! Light, slightly sweet and tart and perfect for a hot summer day! I also have to say that it was pretty darn cool to head out the garden (with my special Martha Stewart-ish type harvest wicker basket, kitchen shears to snip the herbs and a knife for the other veggies) to figure out what we were having for dinner! Chives and fresh cucumbers (mixed with a bit of yogurt, salt and pepper) for a relish type side dish , Mint for the Mojitos, Yellow squash for the meal's veggie (not enough green tomatoes to fry up yet), and I went ahead and "harvested" the one beet. The ground was expelling it so I took it. I'm hoping tonight to incorporate the beet greens into my new favorite sauteed spinach side dish. Yum yum!
Catherine joined us for the first batch of Mojitos before she headed off for symphony rehearsal. After she left, I wondered if she noticed the lovely hosta flowers that we had picked from our front natural area. The Garden Guru said that true hosta lovers pick the flowers to let the hosta leaves have all the outdoor glory. We decided to put our cut flowers in a vase. I thought they were pretty!
But, when I went to the room with the flowers in them, I thought Catherine was more likely to have noticed the shorts and discarded bikini tops I'd worn for staining the deck on the floor instead of the flowers! Grrrrreat. How clean and ready for guests our house always is! I picked up clothes and noted that they were oddly wet. Surely, they would have dried since Wednesday! Half a second later, I realized Duncan had been back to his old tricks. No, I have not bought the Feliway. We have not had real Duncan peeage problems for over a month. But, clearly...and I do mean CLEARLY, we have a problem again. There are few things clearer than an angry cat's pee on your clothes.
Ok! Off to a master's thesis defense--which should be very quick and easy. It's a very nicely done thesis. Then to the paint store to pick up a couple of more gallons of stain to hopefully finish off the deck and fences. And back here to stain like a wild woman.
