"You look like Uday."
After running 8 miles with the group Saturday morning, Dave and I finally finished staining all the fences the same color as the deck. In retrospect, it would have looked fine to have painted or stained with different colors on the floor of the deck and the railings/fences, but it's done and we don't have to worry about it for a couple of years. By then, we may be doing major work on the house and may remove the front fence or alter the deck. We don't know. Whatever. It looks better now.
The Uday comment came after 3 hours of frenzied fence staining. I emerged to check on the neighbs who were putting in fencing to stop their puppy from going under their deck. I apparently had some lovely brown stains/wound marks on my forehead and cheek. I actually had them all over my arms and down my legs. Well, folks, I never could color between the lines. Teehee!
The thing that distinguishes me from your typical house painter though is the amount of lavendar scented salt scrub I used to exfoliate the stains off my skin. How cool is that? I get to be all butch by staining and other outdoor activity and then I can be all girly with a moisturizing salt scrub!! Homeownership is fun! Although I have to be honest: there's just not enough time in the day to exercise Saturday morning AND do outside work AND clean the house. I don't know how people can keep a clean house in the summer. We certainly can't.
I was trying to find Cole to move him from the bedroom to the cat area this morning before letting Patches out of the crate. I looked under the bed, and I swear there was enough fur under there for a spare kitten. There were undulating waves of long white (Patches) and medium gray (Scarlett) fur under the bed.
I'm also starting the "South Beach" diet today, although I'm not really dieting. I've said for a while that while I was preggers I'd move more to the high protein style of eating. Dave and I tend to eat healthy anyway, but we run so much it doesn't really matter what we eat. I figure as I run less, I should eat more protein. I'm not pregnant yet, but I figure it's better to change beforehand b/c the first two weeks are a bit more strict than the rest. I don't want to be dieting while pregnant--just eating healthy.
OK. Today's goal is to pick up the house so it is not so frightening, work on school stuff, and go to Yoga. I had my first fear of the oncoming semester dream last night. I used to dream that it was finals and i had forgotten to drop the class. Now, I dream that I'm teaching a class and I haven't prepared enough for it. And in this dream the students were saying how I was teaching all wrong. Eeeks. And I just remembered that in my dream one student stood up, left the class and stuck her tongue out at me. How weird is that?! YIKES the end of the summer and the start of the semester can be scary.
