Blogs I Read

Well, I finally got up in time for the 6:30 am Yoga class at the Uptown Y with my favorite yogini.  And I actually got up too early, so I shall blog before I down dog.

I've noticed that it's a lot harder to blog about specific areas of my life when I'm actually working during the day (as opposed to staining the fence/deck, gardening, meeting with designers/architects, running 15 miles, training the dog).  I could blog about work, but you know, I work alone all day in my office reading boring research articles, worrying about not having enough publications of my own and if I'll get tenure, or trying to think of witty and engaging things to do in class.  Ain't so glamarous.  So here's a quick summary of the part of life that gives life meaning:

Garden:  We have tomatoes!  I'm going out every day and bringing in the semi-ripe ones, putting them on the window will,  using them at nearly every meal.  YUM!  And the yellow ones we tried are especially sweet and pretty.  I don't know what else is going on out there at this moment.  We had a huge storm last night and I didn't get out to the garden.  I am suspecting that the squash are gone for good.  Big update tomorrow.

Remodel:  We haven't officially called the architect/designer, but we're keeping to our plan of hiring the architect and offering the designer the job as the designer.  We'll see if she takes it.  Better news:  we finally cleaned up the kitchen.  Our house is not a complete pig sty anymore.

Cats/Dogs:  Nothing new to report.  4:45 this morning there were growls and hisses.  There was a lot of loud barking.  There were two frustrated humans lying in bed getting crankier by the animal sound.  At 5:00 I'd had enough, sat up in bed and shouted "EVERYBODY SHUT UP"  There was stunned silence across the species.  A few more growls, hisses and barks.  "SHUT UP."  Silence for the 40 more minutes until I officially had to wake up.

Baby:  No real baby news.  I did check with HR at the university and discovered the one fringe benefit to being a prof.  Our Family Medical Leave benefit is an entire semester off with pay.  That means that if I have the baby next summer, I will have the summer and next fall off with pay with the baby.  I also found this handy dandy due date calculator.   Pretty cool, eh?!

Today is Dave and my 8 month wedding anniversary.  Not to be too treacle-y, but I love being married to him.  We are lucky old farts who found each other.

Off to work (at home) today.  I WILL have the car inspected at 1:00 today!
