Ode to the Humidifier
We are singing the praises of humidifiers this morning. Yesterday, Dave received his first Expectant Father newsletter from Babycenter.com. Ironically, this week's issue for Dad was the stuffiness of Mom's nose. Being the good male oriented newsletter that it clearly is, it suggested that Dad get Mom a humidifier for the bedroom. Since we know we'll be using one in the baby's room, Dave ran out to Home Depot during lunch and bought us an inexpensive but fine humidifier.
Oh happiness! Oh joy!!! I woke this morning both at 3:00 am and at 5:30 (normal rising time) with a clear nose and moist skin. I'm so, so psyched about the humdifier! And it was only $20! Can't beat that with a stick!
Other happy news includes the growth of my belly. Once a month, we've been taking pictures of me in bathing suit to mark the growth of the bun. To be honest, although I'm quite excited that I am finally filling out the top of the bathing suit, the bottom part is quite scary. These are definitely not the prettiest pictures anyone will ever see of my belly and butt. I keep justifying it by saying "6 months after the baby's born we'll do another picture so that I can have a good 'After' shot."
And I'm not just being falsely modest here. Dave was in such a stupor over last week's photo session, that when I asked him the clearly loaded question "Do I look pregnant or fat?", he actually said "A little bit of both." Everyone who knows that was the wrong answer raise your hand. Yeah. That's what I thought. He was so overwhelmed by the bathing suit bottoms, he temporarily lost his sanity.
The good news is that this week, the shape of my belly has changed. I parade my belly in front of him and ask "Does my belly look different?" because I thought it did, but wanted a second opinion. He had a much wiser answer. "Yes, it does. It's moved up, and it even looks flatter." I thought so too!! (So I know it wasn't complete bullshit). Previously, I had a shelf of belly blooming under my navel. Now it starts a little bit below my ribs and is the same distance out all the way down. The fat has spread out...and it looks less fat.
Yay! It looks less like too many extra buns at dinner and more like a bun in the oven.
Ok. Off to shop and get paint samples.
GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!
