Blogs I Read
Arrrrrghhhh.
I accidentally hit the refresh key and lost this morning's long and incredibly witty post. That is the first time that has happened.
OK. Quick, witless recreation:
Belly Ache
I called the doctor again yesterday b/c my abdomen was still hurting. The official verdict is now "strained ligaments." Essentially, I pulled my belly. The good news is that I'm hurting much less today. The better is that the baby is and was fine the whole time. I just mucked up my abs. Or, my abs are mucked up from being split in two by my uterus and I can't do what I normally could do. So there.
Flashlight
We've been shining a flashlight on my belly. And it's not because it's such a beautiful sight to behold, we want to spotlight it. Apparently, the Bun has been able to see light for a while now, so some of the baby books recommend shining a light in your uterus to see how the baby responds. Our summary of his first "exposure" to light......"WHOA NELLY!" There was a definite startle the first time we put the flashlight on my belly, but since then, not too much. He may get excited and kick a little, but I'm not sure it's in direct response to the light. The first "Whoa Nelly" was though! We're not sure what we're supposed to do with the light. Hold it in one spot??? Move it around???? Aim for his feet??? His head???? We'll try some options and let you now what happens.
Middle Names
No, we're not going to blog about our real name ideas until the little guy has made his appearance. (Although I may blog about our last name combo choices) Nonetheless, this weekend we were coming up with some ideas for middle names. At one point, the idea floated around to give him a very uncommon middle name something like X!nau from The Gods Must Be Crazy. "X!Nau??" you say. Actually, "X!Nau" you should click. Two clicks to be correct!! As a prof, I can just imagine his teachers struggling with trying to get that one right. Profs had a hard enough time with my college roommate's (really easy) Greek name that clicking ought to send them right over the edge. And the bonus is that if we give him the official name of two clicks (!!), we could call him one click (!) for short! Well, it's either that or my brother's longtime favorite Beauregard.
Off to school. Two blogs in one morning for one entry really takes more time than I have.
