Indigestion

I never knew one person could have so much indigestion.  Sunday night, I stumbled out of bed after being awoken by a horrible taste of acid in my mouth, and checked the clock hoping to see it closer to 5 than to 12.  No such luck:  1:45 am.  Choices at that time:  lie in bed in pain or get up, drink some water and take a tums.  (Or the Harris Teeter brand version of fruit flavored Tums as the case may be) I opted to arise and pretend it was practice for the baby.

I swear that I can eat just one bite over the "limit," which I think for me means one bite over not being hungry anymore, and I am dying.  I am eating my way through a crate of (fruit flavored harris teeter brand) Tums.  And I swear it's getting worse.  What are my choices?  Not to eat until I'm satiated and feel hungry most of the time?  To constantly eat a bite of something and stop?  Bleah.  I think it's going to get worse before it gets better in the digestion arena.  I haven't even started my third trimester yet.

Whirly, Twirly, Squiggly Boy

I was not expecting the twirling of the baby in my belly.  The kicks and prods feel exactly like I'd imagined they would.  But this twirly thing is weird.  At night, when we're going to sleep, he likes to roll around.  There's an amazing tightness in my belly and hardness where we can feel his body. It's not a Braxton-Hicks because it's only in one place, not all over the belly.  And then he settles back in and the tightness/hardness is gone.  But it's not an entirely comfortable feeling.

We've also regularly found a lump thing which comes and goes.  It's got to be some body part but we don't know which one.  It's about two inches long, and we thought it was his foot.  It could be!  When he was only 6 inches crown to rump, his foot was one inch long!!  But it doesn't kick.  It disappears, but it doesn't seem to kick or move when we're feeling it.  Maybe a knee?  A butt-cheek?  It's curious.  And it's usually there when he twirls.  I'm going to ask the doctor next week what he thinks it could be.

Off to another productive day at work.  The dogwoods and azaleas are absolutely stunning right now.  Since we cleaned the ivy off our dogwoods they are finally blooming.  And driving down the main street in our neighborhood is breathtaking.  It's like driving through clouds of pink and white.  There is nothing as beautiful as the south in spring time.
