Ironic Thursday and Friday

Wouldn't you know.  Dave and I have nothing resembling a social life and then in one weekend everything happens.  Thursday night, I had dinner with a former professor visiting from Los Angeles while Dave had dinner with another friend of ours who is also in from Los Angeles.  Ironic, eh?  Whereas one friend was here to give a talk at UNCC, the other was here as tour manager of Metallica.  Even more ironic is that both of our visiting friends are runners with whom Dave and I have spent a good deal of time (separately) exercising throughout our time in LA.  This was certainly one of those nights where I would have liked to have had two dinners and stayed up to a reasonable unpregnant time of about 2:00 am to catch up.

Friday, Dave and I went to Greensboro for a professional conference.  It was quite good.  Afterwards, we went to my Granny's house.  My parents came over later and we all went out later for fish.  Which in the South means a big plate of fried food that would scare others, but we absolutely love.  The most ironic event was "lived" on Friday night, but had been decided upon earlier.  Our friend, the tour manager, had offered us tickets to go see Metallica on Friday night.  Now, folks, never in my life did I think I was going to have to choose between my Granny and Metallica.  Granny?  Metallica?  Granny?? Metallica?? Granny??? Metallica???  Well, Granny won.  It was really no contest, as all my friends who know my Granny would agree.  But it was one of those life choices you really don't see coming.  (As an aside, our friend also invited Granny to come along to the concert with us!)

Kohls (or Mervyns in CA)

OK.  Here's the scoop.  Before we went to Granny's we stopped by Kohl's (aka Mervyn's in CA) to shop for maternity clothes.  Oh. My. God(dess).  Are you pregnant?  Get thee to a Kohl's.  How come I haven't heard of them before?  We picked up the cutest summer maternity clothes at the same price as the Junior League Wearhouse!  And these are brand new!!!  For $150, we got a pair of khaki shortalls, olive green shorts, khaki shorts, olive green long pants for school, khaki capris, and three shirts.  For $150 folks!!!!!!! And they are really, really cute!!!  I'm so excited about my new cute clothes that are not just "new to me"!! It may be harder to find professional clothes here, but considering I have one more week of teaching before I can wear the casual long pants if not also the shorts to work, it was a definite Yes! for me.

We've got a big Saturday planned.  I need to go make a list.
