Where's Mommy?

We started teaching Patches a new game this week.  Essentially, it's hide and go seek with Patches searching for either Mommy or Daddy.  We started with Mommy because we weren't sure he knew my name.  He clearly knows who Daddy is.  So the trick is that Dave has Patches sit and stay while I go "hide".  I can't hide too well or P can't find me.  But I go stand in another room or maybe in one of our old house's nooks and crannies.  Then Dave says "Where's Mommy?" and Patches (hopefully) takes off looking for me.  I have a treat as a bribe, I mean, reward for when he finds me.  We had to start pretty simple with me just being on the other side of the room and then I could go out of the room and then to different rooms.  After he finds me, we switch who's hiding and I send Patches along with a "Where's Daddy?"  I have to say it's a lot of fun.  We have visions of eventually training him to find the baby.  You know, collie, Lassie, Timmy and the well.  It just seems like a natural.

We are also working on Patches' heeling and walking skills again.  I don't want to have to worry about him pulling when we're out with the stroller or the Baby Bjorn.  Regular walks around the neighborhood have not been pleasant.  So this morning, we put the Gentle Leader back on.  What a pleasant walk we had.  He self corrects whenever he starts pulling and it just makes the walks much, much better.  Hopefully, we'll be off the leader by the time the baby comes.  But until he walks without pulling, we're keeping it on.

PG News

On my trip to Kohl's last week, I bought several below the belly pants and shorts.  They look so much cuter than the maternity pants with the full panel that come up to your boobs.  However, my old hag self is not used to such things.  When I first got pg, we tried on some below the belly jeans which look incredibly cute on the internet models.  On my wisened old ass, however, they caused some bug-eyed looks of fright.  I have a woman's butt, not a boy's butt.  And low rider jeans on womans butt with a woman's hips are not necessarily the best way to show off this woman's assests.  All this to say that I'm not used to wearing low riders.

The pants I just bought, though, are not as low as the jeans.  They have an elastic band which sits over the top of the back of the hips and under the belly.  I really don't think the pants will slip down.  Nonetheless, I was in great fear on Friday that my pants were going to fall off while I was teaching.  I may have even mentioned something about that fear at the beginning of class.  Along with the fact that I was wearing a sleeveless shirt and I was afraid my triceps would jiggle while writing on the board.  The pants didn't fall off, but the triceps did jiggle.  It is a completely different sensation to have one's pants well below one's waist.  Well, I guess it's not unusual for the fashionable ultra hip in this world.  But for those of us labeled as just having ultra hips, it is weird.

Rings off

Dave and I stopped by the neighborhood jewelry store to inquire about their retirement sale (b.s. sales promo) and they advised that I take my rings off ASAP.  They have cut the rings off more than a few women at my stage of the game.  Dave and I decided to go to Target and get a silver-ish band to wear for me to wear for the rest of the pregnancy.  My hands are starting to swell and the more hot and humid it gets, the more likely I am to turn into the Michelin woman.

Off to work on the students last quiz and their final.  WOOHOO!!!!
