Pooped

I’m just back from an early morning meeting with one of the professional groups in Charlotte.  It was very productive, but LORD, I don’t see how folks with a long commute or strict work hours do it.  Dave had a 7 am meeting and my meeting started at 7:30.  Conor was up and at ‘em at daycare by 7:15.  He was the first baby in today.  I’m going to pick him up early.  Nonetheless, I am POOPED right now.  And I still have a full day’s work to get int.

Gone to (South) Carolina

Lucky us!  On Saturday we took this blog world into the real world and went to Carolina Karen’s house for dinner and visitin’, as we say down here.  How lucky are we to have met real friends through this blog gig??  Even better real friends who can cook well!  We had a yummmmmmy grill roasted chicken  (yes, roasted chicken on the grill; it was scrumptious!  She’s a bit o’ a foodie ß that link is to her cooking blog).  It has inspired Dave and me to buy a grown up grill and give outdoor gourmet cooking a try.

Karen also gave me some very good ideas about furnishing our house.  I was coveting, I mean, admiring her decor, and Karen shared her strategy of not investing the big bucks in furnishing until the kids grow up.  What a fantabulous idea!!  Dave and I need to buy some chairs for our living room and have balked at throwing down $2400 for 4 chairs.  It makes even more sense to wait if we know we’ll be hyper about not letting any children in there to mess up our ‘spensive chairs.

On the way home from CK’s, Dave and I discussed buying some used chairs from flea markets/yard sales and using slip covers.  That could save us a couple of thousand dollars but still make the living room pretty and useful, but not off limits to the kid(s).  (Food and a coupe of thousand dollar savings!!!  What a great Saturday night date!)

I am still poooped.  I don’t know why I thought from the beginning to end of writing this, I’d all of a sudden by energized.  At least Conor slept through the night last night (yay!), but I have to work on that insomnia to if I’m going to take advantage of it.
